A mellow autumn evening is coming up, one that will leave us wiser. Mauri Kiudsoo is an archaeologist. His speciality is numismatics, or the study of coins, but he also knows everything about earlier history. He has written countless articles, both academic and popular, as well as several books. His most recent, *Treasures of the Middle Ages from Estonia: The Earth as a Savings Bank*, was published in 2023. He has a phenomenal memory and, over the past few decades, has essentially “dug up” all of Estonia. When a treasure is found somewhere, Mauri is among the first to arrive. And although people generally imagine scholars as quiet, solitary nerds, that usually isn’t the case—especially with Mauri.
Our Kolme Kandi Evening Academy will focus on the Early Iron Age and the Viking Age, and on stories unearthed right here in our area. There are plenty of these stories, illustrated with images on screen. As an interesting aside, Mauri is also something of a local, since his roots are not far from here. We’ll talk about exactly where, too :)
Kolme Kandi Evening Academy opens its doors on 24 November at 19:00. Doors open at 18:30.
Early birds can get tickets from Aili and through Fienta for €7 until 8 November. After that, tickets cost €10 from 9 November at 00:00 until 24 November at 18:00. Tickets at the door cost €15. The café will also be open. The café will also be open.
