This unique tour programme, created by the Estonian Centre of Architecture, gives architecture enthusiasts the opportunity to step inside Tallinn Linnahall, whose doors are usually closed to the public. Linnahall is one of several buildings constructed in Tallinn to host the sailing regatta as part of the XXII Olympic Games, held in Moscow in 1980. The design was prepared by Raine Karp, Riina Altmäe and Ülo Sirp in 1976. It is one of the most outstanding examples of Soviet Estonian architecture in Tallinn. Linnahall also attracted a great deal of attention in 2020, when it became one of the most interesting filming locations in Tallinn for Christopher Nolan’s film TENET. In Nolan’s film, the building portrayed the Kyiv Opera House. The filmmakers were drawn to the building primarily by its monumental atmosphere. Learn about Linnahall’s history, see inside the building where Nolan’s film was shot, and hear many other interesting facts on this unique tour. The tour lasts 90 minutes and is conducted in Estonian, Russian and English. Tours organised by the Estonian Centre of Architecture are led by some of Estonia’s best professional guides, united by their interest in architecture and its history. The Architecture Centre also organises tailor-made tours in six languages to various places of interest throughout Estonia. If you are interested, send an enquiry to info@archtours.ee.
