The unique tour programme created by the Estonian Centre of Architecture gives architecture enthusiasts the chance to peek behind the doors of Tallinn Linnahall, which is otherwise closed to the public. The Estonian Centre of Architecture has been running tours of Tallinn Linnahall since 2020. Our guides are people who know the building and its story better than anyone else.

Linnahall is part of a complex built to host the sailing regatta in Tallinn during the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games. The building was designed in 1976 by Raine Karp together with Riina Altmäe and Ülo Sirp. It is one of the most striking examples of Soviet-era architecture in Tallinn, Estonia.

Linnahall also attracted considerable attention in 2020 as one of the most exciting filming locations in Tallinn for Christopher Nolan’s film TENET. In the film, the building stood in for the Kyiv Opera House. The filmmakers were particularly captivated by its monumental aura.

Discover the history of Tallinn Linnahall, what the building used as a filming location for Nolan’s film looks like inside, which stars have performed on its stage—and what their backstage was like—along with much more, on this unique tour.

The tour lasts 90 minutes in total and is offered in Estonian, Russian and English. Tours organised by the Estonian Centre of Architecture are led by Estonia’s best professional guides, united by their interest in architecture and its history.

The Centre of Architecture also arranges private tours for interested groups in six languages at fascinating locations across Estonia. To enquire, please email info@archtours.ee.
