Amàta — 29.11

It begins with a feeling. With curiosity. With a longing for closeness, amid separation. In a world that moves faster than we can feel, we long for moments in which to experience genuine human closeness. What does it mean to be connected to someone? Is sensing one another enough to create closeness?

Amàta is a contemporary dance performance born from a collaboration between artists from Estonia, Spain and Italy. The work explores the tensions between being oneself and belonging, with the body at its centre as a universal means of communication. Maria Kõrvits’s original music carries the dancers through space like an autumn wind through leaves—unexpectedly, vigorously and intensely. Together, light and movement create a complete stage work that invites you to step away from everyday life for a moment and experience something real.

Amàta is led by Amanda Tender and Eva Lotta Kliimask, recent graduates of Tallinn University BFM’s choreography programme. “We have both developed our artistic languages abroad, and now we want to challenge ourselves further by creating our own international project.”

Our goal? For you to leave the theatre feeling as fresh as a clean white shirt straight out of the washing machine.
