Amàta – 28.11

It starts with a feeling. Curiosity. A longing for closeness. In the midst of isolation. In a world that moves faster than we can feel, we long for moments of genuine human connection. What does it mean to be connected to someone? Is simply sensing one another enough to create closeness?

Amàta is a contemporary dance performance born from a collaboration between artists from Estonia, Spain and Italy. The work explores the tensions between being oneself and belonging together, with the body at its centre as a universal means of communication. Maria Kõrvits’s original music carries the dancers through space like an autumn wind through leaves—unexpectedly, dynamically and intensely. Together with light and movement, it creates a stage work that invites you to step away from everyday life for a moment and experience something real.

Amàta is led by Amanda Tender and Eva Lotta Kliimask, recent graduates of the choreography programme at Tallinn University’s Baltic Film, Media and Arts School (BFM). “We’ve both continued to develop our artistic voices abroad, and now we want to challenge ourselves further by creating an international project of our own.”

Our goal? For you to leave the theatre feeling as fresh as a clean white shirt straight out of the washing machine.
