LEMBIT VEEVO 100: VEEVO’S MUSIC IN DIALOGUE WITH NEW WORKS

Lembit Veevo 100. Paraphrase

The Estonian Chamber Choirs Association invites audiences to experience a unique musical event that brings together the heritage of Estonian choral music and contemporary sound, interweaving different musical worlds on stage.

This autumn, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the acclaimed Estonian choral composer Lembit Veevo with the first-of-its-kind concert project, “Lembit Veevo 100. Paraphrase”.

What is “Paraphrase”? Instead of a classical choral music concert, we launched an innovative creative laboratory format. Six composers were selected to take part through a competition based on submitted proposals and concepts. Each composer was paired with an ensemble belonging to the Estonian Chamber Choirs Association, so that close collaboration, direct communication and working together in the rehearsal room could give rise to something entirely new.

The result is six brand-new works—paraphrases inspired by Lembit Veevo’s rich body of work and creative spirit. The concert will feature these newly completed works alongside Veevo’s own wonderful music. Come and discover how Lembit Veevo’s legacy sounds in a new form!
