Rita Pranča’s “Year of the Goat” exhibition

The exhibition “Year of the Goat” brings together Rita Pranča’s painting and ceramics—two media that continually flow into one another in the artist’s practice. Figures born in ceramics enter her paintings, while ideas from painting take on spatial form. In this world, the goat is both a figure and an alter ego: stubborn, free, comical and self-sufficient. But the exhibition is not only about goats. It features animals, people, landscapes and imagined creatures, where the everyday meets the fantastic, and seriousness meets humour and self-irony. “Year of the Goat” is a story about the freedom to be different and go your own way. Rita Pranča is a Latvian artist who works in sculpture, ceramics and painting, and also creates installations with olfactory elements. She holds a master’s degree in ceramics and sculpture from the Art Academy of Latvia. She is a member of the Artists’ Union of Latvia, a board member of the Latvian Ceramic Association, and co-founder and director of the artists’ association ArtPart. Rita is also the creator of “Kazas Laukos”, a brand of natural goat’s milk cosmetics and author ceramics.
