Holiday Concert: “Only Girls in Jazz”

Only girls in jazz! That means elegance, sparkling rhythms and a few musical surprises. Violinist Ilze Kirsanova and pianist Tatjana Čigorskaja invite you on an exciting musical journey, where jazz reveals itself in many different colours and moods. Did you know that jazz can even be hidden in Bach’s music? It readily takes to ragtime rhythms, comes alive in the legendary jazz standards of Ellington and Desmond, visits Gershwin’s opera, and surprises with waltzes, blues and rumba. And of course, there’s the glamour of Hollywood and Broadway! The music of Mancini and Chaplin will find its place alongside the cheerful “Hello, Dolly!”. This will be a musical adventure in the world of the 20th century, where the concert stage meets the dance hall and the cinema screen, while jazz playfully crosses every boundary. Because good jazz calls for freedom, elegance and, of course, a healthy dose of humour! A lavishly decorated Christmas tree, elegant dresses and an uplifted mood will give the evening a special atmosphere and a true festive feeling. After all, when there are only girls in jazz, they make the rules! And that means a truly sparkling evening!
