VPDK “Dūka” and Friends Dance Concert “We’re Living Joyfully!”

The middle-generation dance ensemble “Dūka” of the Siguldas devons Culture Centre invites all lovers of stage dance to a concert, “We’re Living Joyfully!”, on 21 November at 17:00. Audiences will enjoy performances by local middle-generation dancers and ensembles from Vangaži, Madona, Valmiera, Rīga, Allaži, Jelgava and Ogre.

Eight middle-generation dance ensembles will come together for the concert “We’re Living Joyfully!” to remind us through dance, music, humour and warmth that life is not just obligations and everyday worries. It is also friendship, being together, the joy of meeting and dancing with abandon. The lively title of the concert, “We’re Living Joyfully!”, reflects the energy, zest for life and love of the VPDK “Dūka” ensemble. It is worth noting that several new dancers have joined the ensemble this dance season, and the youngest dancer is 29 years old! New and spirited dances can therefore be enjoyed at this concert.

VPDK “Dūka” director Vilnis Brēmanis sums up the ensemble’s everyday life: “We dance because we enjoy it, we’re good at it, and our people are there. In the rush of everyday life, it’s important to have a place where you can forget about work, feel the music, dance out your joy and sometimes have a good laugh at yourself. We dance because we want to, we can, and without all this, something would be missing from our lives. As long as we dance, we live!”

The concert “We’re Living Joyfully!” will take place in two parts, featuring both repertoire from previous years and dances the ensemble has just learned. Everyone is invited to join VPDK “Dūka” in celebrating the joy of life, dance and that special feeling only “one of us” can understand!
