Piano Duo Maila Laidna – Tiiu Sisask · Keila Music School

The acclaimed piano duo Maila Laidna – Tiiu Sisask gives a concert at Keila Music School featuring a beautiful and meaningful programme that brings together works by beloved Estonian composers Urmas Sisask and Pärt Uusberg, alongside the exquisite music of Maurice Ravel. ABOUT THE DUO
The piano duo Maila Laidna – Tiiu Sisask was formed in 2013. The duo has attended numerous masterclasses and collaborated with distinguished musicians such as Arvo Pärt, Maja Nosowska, Elena Semishina, Gil Garburg and PetRo. They have performed at many concert venues and in concert series in Estonia and elsewhere in Europe. The duo has achieved notable international success: third place at the 15th International Piano Competition in Rome (2015); a place in the final of the Suzana Szörenyi Competition in Romania (2016); first place at the 20th International Maria Yudina Competition for Pianists and Chamber Ensembles in St Petersburg (2019); second place at the chamber music competition in Philadelphia, Italy (2019); first place at the Danubia Talents competition in Budapest (2021); and a gold medal at the 3rd WPTA Finland International Piano Competition (2021). The duo further developed its piano-duo skills at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz under professors Gil Garburg and Sivan Silver. Estonian composers Liisa Hirsch and Riho Esko Maimets have written works especially for the duo. In 2016, the piano duo Maila Laidna – Tiiu Sisask gave the premiere of Urmas Sisask’s work “Sombrero” at Tõravere Observatory.
