Have you ever wondered why one olive oil costs a few euros while another costs several dozen? Or whether good olive oil should taste bitter or slightly peppery? On 19 November, we’ll take a little taste journey to Italy at Loo KUUT. The evening will focus on high-quality Italian olive oils, which olive oil expert Merily Peterson will guide us in tasting and learning about. Merily trained at Italy’s O.N.A.O.O. olive oil school and will help us discover a world most of us know surprisingly little about.
What will we experience during the evening? We’ll taste five high-quality olive oils and compare them with defective oils to learn how to tell the difference. We’ll find out what affects olive oil’s quality, aroma and taste. We’ll learn to recognise differences in intensity, fruitiness, bitterness and pungency. We’ll talk about how to choose good olive oil and which foods different oils pair best with.
To complete the Italian-themed evening, there will also be Italian-style snacks, wine, music and good company. This evening is for people who love good food, as well as anyone who would simply like to experience something new. No prior knowledge of olive oils is needed.
