Theatre Performance “Chanel No. 1”

On 9 April at 19:00, the theatre performance “Chanel No. 1” will take place at Daugavpils Kultūras pils.

“Fashion has two purposes: comfort and love. Beauty arises when fashion achieves both.” These are the words of Coco Chanel, perhaps the most enigmatic fashion designer in history: a ruthless innovator who broke stereotypes and fought fiercely for true art.

Her life was full of paradoxes. She could not boast noble origins, yet moved in royal and aristocratic circles. Born into poverty, she nevertheless reached such heights that she became a patron of the arts and gave the world many masterpieces. She created things that no true woman can do without today. She made people reckon with women’s rights and fought for equality with men.

That is why the creators of the performance believe Coco Chanel’s story deserves attention. Although her life is veiled in many fictions and mysteries, this story resembles a truth one wants to believe.
