A Musical Evening with Jazz Trio “La Petite Paris”

On 20 November at 18:00, listeners are invited to a musical evening with the trio “La Petite Paris” in the Media Hall of Daugavpils Vienības nams. The ensemble’s sound takes listeners to the romantic atmosphere of Parisian cafés, the world of French chanson and the moods of light jazz.

“La Petite Paris”, or “Little Paris”, is a distinctive musical ensemble whose repertoire gives an important place to well-known French melodies that have stood the test of time, especially music characteristic of France’s musette tradition. The trio’s performances blend French charm, jazz, romance and the lively energy of acoustic music. Concertgoers will have the chance to enjoy music that makes it feel as though they have stepped for a moment into a small Parisian café—a place where the music is intimate, warm and personal. “La Petite Paris” performances are characterised by live musicianship and special attention to melody and atmosphere.

Trio members:

Marko Ojala – accordion, guitar, vocals. A Finnish-born musician and leader of “La Petite Paris”, Marko Ojala was born in Kalajoki, Finland, studied music at the University of Jyväskylä, and has lived in Latvia since 2000. He is known for his virtuosic and expressive accordion playing.

Lauris Amantovs – trombone. One of Latvia’s best-known jazz and wind-instrument musicians, whose trombone sound gives “La Petite Paris” its distinctive jazz mood.

Raivo Ozols – double bass. His playing provides the trio’s musical foundation, giving the performance a warm, organic acoustic sound.

The trio performs acoustically, using accordion, trombone and double bass to create a particularly warm and direct atmosphere. In “La Petite Paris” performances, the French musical tradition meets jazz, creating a sound suited both to relaxed listening and to shared music-making and a festive mood.
