Does your office support concentration and effective work, or does it get in the way? The work environment is more than furniture and room layout. It affects how people concentrate, communicate, collaborate and feel at work. A well-designed work environment supports employee wellbeing and performance.

On 17 November, Tartu Ülikooli Pärnu kolledž will host the training “Spatial Behaviour in Organisations: The Office”, where Kadi Liik, a lecturer in organisational psychology at Tallinna Ülikool, will introduce evidence-based principles for designing an office environment that takes employees’ needs into account.

What will you learn in the training?
How does the physical work environment affect employees’ productivity, engagement and satisfaction? What are the advantages and disadvantages of open-plan offices and other office layouts? How do noise, privacy and other environmental factors affect concentration? Why are personal space, privacy and the opportunity to shape one’s workspace important to employees? How can remote work and different working styles be taken into account when planning office spaces? What changes can be made to an existing office so that it better supports employees’ needs?

The training provides knowledge and practical recommendations for both improving an existing work environment and planning new office spaces.

Who is the training for?
The training is intended for managers, HR and office managers, occupational health and safety specialists, and anyone responsible for employee wellbeing or designing the work environment. It will also be useful for designers, space planners and interior architects.
