Last Time | A Boy with Two Hearts | Liepāja Theatre Small Hall

Sharia law applies in Taliban-controlled territories. Theatre, music, humour and women’s opinions are forbidden. What you will see on the Liepāja Theatre stage—according to religious dogma—is “sinful” and leads people away from the “right” path. This is a story about a family that crosses borders: a mother, a father and three sons who dream of football and cinema. They are from Afghanistan. They are fleeing the Taliban. An adventure-filled journey lies ahead of them. And they all have big hearts. The heroes’ journey by plane, boat and car, over rooftops, in a single heartbeat and in a sardine-like cluster, which they create through close interaction with one another, unfolds before us “lucky” ones at a safe distance. At a time when concerns about security are becoming increasingly pressing, the story of the Taliban is no longer only about them, but also about us. The production is based on the documentary story of Afghan refugees.
