Italian-Style Party with UKUS IN FABULA

November is one of the darkest months of the year. If you’re craving a little more sunshine, an unexpected musical surprise, and a chance to forget for a couple of hours that it’s autumn outside, join us on 20 November at Pegaza Viesistaba for an Italian-style party! That evening, we’ll welcome UKUS IN FABULA, a duo of professional Italian musicians who reveal the ukulele in a whole new light, turning it into a fully-fledged concert instrument capable of producing both delicate, intimate acoustic sounds and rhythmically rich, energetic performances.

UKUS IN FABULA consists of musicians Dario Bellaveglia and Daniele Vacca—professional performers, composers, arrangers and educators with many years of experience. They have performed in Italy and at international festivals in Australia, Israel, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Scotland, Germany, Finland and Austria, and have also appeared on Italian TV shows. The duo’s sound is built around soprano, tenor and bass ukuleles, vocals, rhythm and a range of playing techniques. Their professional experience allows them to bring together influences from fingerstyle, folk, blues, rock and other genres in a single programme.

This won’t be a stiff musical evening. A UKUS IN FABULA concert is about joy, humour, energy and togetherness. Alongside original music, the repertoire features rock and reggae, dance hits from the 1970s and 1980s, world pop classics and, of course, much-loved Italian, Roman and Neapolitan songs. Familiar melodies take on witty, surprising arrangements and unexpected musical combinations.
