...PIE LAIKA | Songs of Freedom

As we look forward to a national celebration that is important to us all, this concert will feature beloved songs that were important during the Awakening, when our nation fought for freedom and its own state, and remain so today. They include legendary songs from the rock opera "Lāčplēsis", patriotic songs by composers Jānis Lūsēns, Zigmar Liepiņš, Imants Kalniņš, Uldis Marhilevičs, Raimonds Pauls, Juris Kulakovs and other songwriters, as well as Latvian folk songs. On stage: legendary singers ZIGFRĪDS MUKTUPĀVELS and IGO, captivating soloist AIJA VĪTOLIŅA, and the audience-favourite actor GUNDARS GRASBERGS of the Latvian National Theatre. The concert will be accompanied by an excellent backing band, led by musical director JĀNIS STRAZDS.
