On 4 November at 19:00, Pegaza Viesistaba will host an evening of conversation about music, creativity, the times we live in, Liepāja, and songs that have become part of several generations’ lives. Composer, pianist and arranger Uldis Marhilevičs and journalist Jānis Šipkēvics senior will meet on the Pegaza Viesistaba stage. Together, they will explore the unseen side of how songs are created—the creative search, inspiration, personal experience and the times in which the music was made. A special part of the conversation will focus on Liepāja’s musical spirit: a city that has become an important space for creative freedom and is home to many outstanding Latvian musicians. And, of course, there will also be performances, with the audience invited to sing along to favourite songs with the evening’s guests. Uldis Marhilevičs has played in the groups “Liepājas brāļi”, “Inversija”, “Opus” and “Remix” and collaborated with many Latvian musicians. His songs, including “Lūgums” and “Tikai tā”, have become an important part of Latvian music culture. Jānis Šipkēvics senior is a co-founder and host of Radio SWH and Radio SWH TV, and the author of the books “LV TOP 100” and “Ar dziesmu par dzīvi”. For more than 30 years, he has also hosted the programme “Ar dziesmu par dzīvi”, talking with figures from Latvian and international music. These conversations about music and life are planned as a regular event at Pegaza Viesistaba, inviting audiences to see music differently—through memories, feelings and stories that grow more valuable over time and continue to live on in listeners’ memories.
