Winter Night — Classical Music Concert | 08.01.27 (19:00)

Some music is inseparably linked with winter: frosty air and falling snow, the quiet of a winter evening and the warmth of home, lights in the windows and the lively rhythm of festive dances. The programme “Winter Night” brings together Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky, Bach and Schubert, Piazzolla and Strauss. Music from different countries and eras in which winter sounds very different—from delicate quiet and wintry lyricism to dynamic festive energy. Vivaldi’s famous “Winter,” winter scenes by Tchaikovsky and Schubert, Piazzolla’s southern winter, “Shchedryk,” Bach’s music and Viennese dances will be performed by a string quintet. On 7 and 8 January, at the very end of the winter holidays, this music will fill the spaces of St. Paul’s Church. The church’s distinctive acoustics, neo-Gothic vaults and lighting design will bring out the character of the music—from quiet, almost intimate moments to dynamic festive ones. “Winter Night” is the musical finale to the winter holidays.

*The musicians will be in the nave, by the altar.
**Concert duration: approximately 1 hour 20 minutes.
