Take Apart and Discover Electrical Devices: Making Holiday Gifts — A Hands-On Workshop for Children and Adults

No previous experience is needed! This time, we’ll make small gifts from e-waste. Take part in a workshop by social enterprise IDEAL MISTAKES HUB, where you can take apart old household electrical appliances, learn with RTU students how they work, and give their electrical components a second life!

Workshop theme: to be confirmed closer to the event.

PLAN
• Learn about workshop safety before getting started with the electrical appliances.
• Take apart several broken appliances together (tools will be provided!).
• RTU student Linards Reinis Rozītis will explain what is inside the appliances and the basic principles of how they work.
• Use creative thinking and brainstorm ways to give old equipment a second life, together with the workshop’s creativity facilitator, Kristīna Virse.

Workshop content will vary depending on which electrical appliances are available to us.

We especially encourage fathers, older brothers (18+), uncles and all other knowledgeable adults to take part (women too!). Recommended age for young participants: 9–18.

What to bring: comfortable work clothes.

Admission: 1 young person + 1 adult = 35 EUR. Each additional young person or adult costs +10 EUR.

Places are limited to 18 people. Safety goggles and work gloves will be provided.

The event organiser informs participants that photographs and/or video will be taken during the event to report on it in the mass media and informational materials. The resulting material may be used for publicity and to inform the public. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please indicate this when purchasing your ticket.
