Religion and Cults

Religion and cults. The dark side of faith. In this lecture-performance, we will explore the world’s most notorious cults—their crimes and the psychology behind them. We will look at the dark side of religion, where those seeking help, a miracle, and healing find themselves in the most horrifying relationships of their lives, while those who promise to serve turn others into their servants. These are stories about people whose faith, hope, and need to belong are exploited for psychological manipulation, control, and criminal ends. We will examine how religious communities can turn into destructive cults, how cult thinking and behaviour take shape today, and what psychological methods are used to influence, subjugate, and exploit people.
