Five decades of Miles Davis’s music. A five-course dinner, carefully selected wines, and a line-up of Latvian jazz stars, all in one unforgettable evening.
Riga Wine & Champagne joins forces with the Pink Noise Riga music festival to mark the 100th birthday of legendary musician Miles Davis with a special new event: the musical wine dinner Cookin’ with the Miles Davis Latvian All-Stars.
How will it work? Aigars Nords will select and share highlights from Miles Davis’s biography throughout the evening. Nords will choose the evening’s musical programme together with Dāvis Jurka of the Latvian Radio Big Band. Chef Valters Zirdziņš (B7) and sommelier Jānis Volkinšteins (Vieta) will pair the food and wines with Miles Davis’s musical legacy.
Taking on the roles of Miles and his fellow musicians, and performing Davis’s music from five decades of the last century, will be leading Latvian musicians Dāvis Jurka, Kārlis Vanags, Gints Pabērzs, Miķelis Dzenuška, Rūdolfs Dankfelds, Toms Poišs, Ritvars Garoza, Reinis Puriņš and Kristīne Prauliņa.

Food and wine
They say Miles—especially when visiting his hometown of St. Louis—loved good barbecue above all else. In New York, he enjoyed roast chicken with his old friend Charlie Parker. That doesn’t mean we’ll be serving only barbecue or chicken…
He drank spirits—gin, vodka and whiskey. In large quantities, especially in the early 1950s, he also used cocaine and heroin (sorry, those won’t be part of the dinner). Later, after making a fortune and being able to live in style, he didn’t turn down the finest champagnes. There’s no record of Miles having a particular favourite wine… But that doesn’t mean we won’t let our imaginations run free and present our vision of what Miles might have liked to drink, and why! Rest assured: we’ll pair Miles’s musical legacy with the best wines we can find in Vieta wine bar’s extensive portfolio. Valters Zirdziņš and the B7 team will dream up some good food to go with them. You’ll love it!
