This workshop is for participants who have attended “Take Apart and Discover Electrical Devices: LEVEL 1”*.
Take part in a workshop by the social enterprise IDEAL MISTAKES HUB, where you can take apart worn-out household electrical devices, learn how they work with RTU students, and give their components a second life!
Workshop topic: We’ll open up damaged smartphones and explore what they’re made of and how they work.
PLAN
- Review workshop safety before getting started with the electrical devices.
- Take apart several non-working devices together (tools provided!).
- RTU student Linards Reinis Rozītis will explain what is inside the devices and their basic operating principles.
- Use creative thinking and brainstorm ways to give worn-out equipment a second life with creativity facilitator Kristīna Virse.
Workshop content will vary depending on which electrical devices are available.
We especially encourage fathers, older brothers (18+), uncles, and other knowledgeable adults (women too!) to take part. Recommended age for young participants: 9–18.
What to bring: comfortable work clothes.
Admission: 1 young person + 1 adult = 35 EUR (+10 EUR for each additional young person or adult).
Seating limit: 18 people.
*Also open to those who have attended any of the other previous workshops by June.
Safety glasses and work gloves are provided.
