Felipe Fuentes (UY)

Felipe Fuentes is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer of Uruguayan origin whose work moves freely across genres such as jazz, hip hop, candombe and experimental music. Born in Montevideo, Fuentes has become an in-demand musician and producer, collaborating with many internationally acclaimed artists, including Juana Molina, Frederico Heliodoro, Hugo Fattoruso, Rubén Rada and Urbano Moraes. His work spans studio recordings, live performances and genre-crossing productions, often blurring the boundaries between acoustic instruments and electronic textures. As an instrumentalist, particularly on bass and guitar, he has collaborated with leading figures in Latin American music, as well as artists from the global jazz and experimental music scenes. His musical development includes studying with prominent musicians associated with the New York jazz scene, such as Gerald Cannon, Ralph Alessi, Tony Malaby and Ben Monder. In addition to his work as a performer, Fuentes is an active producer and beatmaker who has created and contributed to numerous recordings, ranging from indie and jazz projects to hip hop releases and live concert concepts. His discography includes collaborative and solo projects that reflect a hybrid aesthetic, drawing on both traditional South American rhythms and contemporary experimental practices.
