Estonian top pianist Johan Randvere: “Let Christmas Come!”

I’m Johan Randvere, and I’m genuinely very happy that we’ll be seeing each other soon! The end of the year is always a busy and slightly crazy time, but for me the Christmas tour is the moment when time briefly stands still. This is the fifth year in a row that we’ve met like this—it has become a real tradition for me! It’s like meeting good friends—all of you—where we can sit down together, enjoy good music and create that special, warm Christmas feeling.

As this is the fifth-anniversary year, I’ll be bringing a completely new programme to the stage. There are works that really put both hands and piano to the test, as well as pieces that soothe the soul: Liszt – Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, Bach-Busoni – Chaconne, Chopin – Fantasy in F minor, Ravel – Jeux d’eau, and others. Of course, our favourite Christmas carols, which warm the heart, will also be included.

As always, this isn’t just an academic concert—I’ll share fascinating and amusing anecdotes from music history between the pieces (a bit like piano stand-up, you know!) and we’ll discover music together. Do come early, bring your dearest people—partners, friends, children and grandparents—and leave everyday worries at the door. See you at the concert!
