Israeli Vocal Ensemble and Hortus Musicus Baroque Orchestra
Conductors: Yuval Benozer and Andres Mustonen
Programme: J. S. Bach’s Magnificat and works by contemporary Israeli composers
The Israeli Vocal Ensemble (Israeli Vocal Ensemble) was founded in 1993 by conductor and music director Yuval Benozer and quickly became one of Israel’s leading vocal ensembles. From the outset, the ensemble has prioritised excellence and high artistic standards, introducing new Israeli compositions and bringing classical vocal music to the widest possible audience. The ensemble, made up of twenty professional singers, performs in Israel’s most prestigious concert halls and at festivals, organises its own concert series, collaborates with the country’s leading orchestras, and runs educational projects for children. Its performances have earned recognition from audiences, critics and professional musicians alike. The ensemble’s repertoire is diverse, ranging from medieval music to contemporary music, and from avant-garde works to film music. It has performed with orchestras including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Camerata Jerusalem and the Israel Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos.
