Sauna Ritual Evening in the Cave Sauna

As the evenings grow darker and the weather cooler, Alice’s Backyard in Pärnu opens the doors to its cave sauna. On three evenings before the end of the year, enjoy a sauna ritual evening with a special theme, bringing together Estonian sauna traditions, a relaxing spa experience and a pleasant atmosphere. It’s a chance to take a couple of hours for yourself, enjoy a good sauna and take part in a guided sauna ritual.

Three evenings, three different rituals:

**10 October – Birch Whisk Ritual**
The birch whisk is one of the best-known symbols of Estonian sauna traditions. This ritual centres on whisking, the scent of birch branches and the natural rhythm of the sauna. Whisking relaxes the muscles and opens the pores, while the essential oils in the birch bring relief to breathing.

**7 November – The Power of Steam**
The November evening centres on a steam-and-salt sauna, a honey and sugar scrub, and a eucalyptus whisk. The heat of the steam-and-salt sauna helps warm and relax the body, while carefully selected aromas create a pleasant, peaceful sauna atmosphere.

**5 December – Sound Journey and Aromas**
The final and most special evening of the season before the Christmas rush. In the ritual, a shamanic drum and koshi chimes sound in the steam sauna, accompanied by the aromas of essential oils. It’s an evocative experience in which the sounds give the evening a different rhythm and offer a chance to step away from the bustle of everyday life for a while.

**What does the evening offer?**
During your two-hour visit, the sauna master will lead a guided ritual. The rest of the time, you can move at your own pace between the saunas, the heated hot tub and the cosy fireplace room. In the fireplace room, an Estonian snack spread awaits you, and to finish the evening, the hostess will serve you a cup of cleansing herbal tea.
