Museum Rat 2026

The museum community will gather on Hiiumaa to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Estonia’s museum sector, share experiences and find inspiration for the future. At the end of April, the organisers of Muuseumirott, the National Heritage Board and the Estonian Museums Association, selected the next host of the event, and this time the draw fell to Hiiumaa Museum. The event’s date and location have now also been announced. Muuseumirott 2026 – the conference and gala for the Estonian Museum Awards – will take place on 4 February 2027 at Viscosa Kultuuritehas on Hiiumaa. The event is organised by Hiiumaa Museums and Viscosa Kultuuritehas. “Viscosa Kultuuritehas offers a unique setting for meetings, discussions and a celebratory recognition of achievement. During the day, we will look back on the past year and discuss developments in the museum sector; in the evening, we will recognise those who have particularly distinguished themselves through their work,” explained Margret Põllu, events organiser and Muuseumirott project manager at Sihtasutus Hiiumaa Muuseumid. Applications for the Muuseumirott competition can be submitted until 31 October. More information: https://www.muinsuskaitseamet.ee/kultuuriparand-eestis/tunnustus/eesti-muuseumide-aastaauhinnad
