- Where
- Viscosa Kultuuritehas, Hiiumaa vald
What do we remember? What do we forget? And which stories stay with us even when we think we have moved on from them? The guest at Viscosa’s literary conversation is Kai Aareleid—writer, poet and translator, whose work weaves personal memory, family stories and history into whole worlds. *Vene veri*, *Linnade põletamine*, *Vaikne ookean*, *Salaelud*—in Aareleid’s writing, great history and deeply personal stories unfold side by side. The past never remains entirely in the past, and a person’s life can open up through a photograph, a sentence, a place or a story kept silent for decades. Kai Aareleid also has a connection to Hiiumaa—a place she has called the most enduring home of her life. At Viscosa, we’ll talk about literature, memory, places, translation and how a moment lived or noticed becomes literature. The conversation will be led by Tiina Maiberg, organiser of the Hiiumaa Literature Festival. One autumn evening. Two people in conversation. And stories that may take us a long way. Viscosa Kultuuritehas, Kõrgessaare. €5. Viscosa’s literary conversations are supported by the Estonian Cultural Endowment.
