I’m delighted to invite you to a concert. On 4 April 2027, Peia comes to Tallinn on her Fathoms Deep album release tour, celebrating her first full-length solo album in more than a decade. The very first concert of this European tour will take place in Tallinn. After Estonia, Peia will travel on to Zürich, London, Paris, Oslo, Warsaw and Ljubljana. This gives you the chance to be among the first to hear these new songs performed live.
For the past twelve years, Peia has gathered, held and passed on traditional songs from different cultures—Irish keening songs, Scottish waulking songs and Bulgarian mountain calls. She lives in the Appalachian Mountains, and her voice moves naturally between the old and the present, tradition and contemporary life. With three studio albums and more than a decade of international touring, Peia has built a deeply devoted audience around the world. In her work, she seeks a place where music, ancestors and remembrance meet, breathing new life into old songs.
With Fathoms Deep, Peia turns her gaze inward. The album marks a movement away from songs that touch on our shared human experience and towards something much more personal and intimate. Fathoms Deep was born during a time of great change. On this album, Peia moves through loss, grief and the experience of death, through the way pain can become beauty, and ultimately towards the power of love that carries us. These are songs born in deep waters. Songs of surrender and devotion. Of what disappears, and what remains when we meet life without our usual layers of protection.
Here, Peia is more vulnerable and open than ever before. She sings from her own lived experience with a honesty and openness rarely heard in her earlier work. The album was produced by Peia together with Trewin Howard of Phoria. Its sound is expansive and cinematic—live instruments, gentle electronics, space and subtle details create a multilayered landscape around the songs. These layers do not conceal the songs’ intimacy; they give them room to resonate even more deeply. At times, the sound is primordial and elemental; at others, almost otherworldly, then unexpectedly close and moving.
On stage, Peia is joined by three musicians. You’ll hear harmonium, charango, violin, double bass and percussion, bringing the songs to life on stage as a full band, with no backing tracks. The concert features songs from Fathoms Deep alongside Peia’s earlier work—both her own compositions and traditional songs that have shaped her musical journey. It is a journey through grief and beauty, ancestry and belonging, darkness and renewal. Fathoms Deep is an album about what happens when we allow ourselves to descend fully into the depths of the human experience—and discover that love is still there.
