LOOK BEYOND THE SMILE
The airway is not a separate topic in dentistry.
A child who sleeps with their mouth open.
A patient who snores, wakes up tired, or struggles to concentrate.
A narrow palate, incorrect tongue posture, or crowded teeth.
A child whose facial and jaw development is not progressing as expected.
A patient with an apparently straightforward orthodontic, prosthetic, or surgical problem, but something in the clinical picture does not seem quite right.
We often see signs like these in our daily work. The question is whether we know how to ask the right questions and recognise when they may point to airway restriction or other functional problems.
When should we treat? When should we refer? What should come first—orthodontics, surgery, implant placement, or prosthetics? And what might we miss if we look only at the teeth?
Dr Christian Leonhardt and Dr Dr Florian Six bring two different clinical perspectives to Tallinn: orthodontics and functional treatment planning, and oral, facial and jaw surgery and implantology. They share one principle: better diagnostics should lead to better treatment decisions.
Dr Six and Leonhardt are the founders of Vienna Airway Congress, an event that has become one of the international meeting places in the field of airway health. Now part of that discussion is coming to Tallinn for one day.
Two different perspectives. One shared goal: making better clinical decisions.
The conference is organised in collaboration with ProOrtho and Proimplanti, with the support of Kliinik 32. Alongside the international speakers, Kliinik 32 doctors Dr Martin Martma and Dr Kirsten Nigul will bring an Estonian clinical practice perspective to the end of the conference day.
