In the workshop, participants will be introduced to design thinking, using young people’s phone use before sleep and the resulting sleep deprivation as a starting point. Through two different user stories, they will explore how the same problem can affect people in different ways. Teams will choose one perspective and use suitable design-thinking tools to explore that person’s experience and needs. They will then brainstorm a possible solution, visualise it, and present it to the others in a short pitch. At the end of the workshop, they will connect their work to the overall design-thinking process and consider what steps would be needed to take the idea further.

The workshop is led by Lily Visnapuu and Greteliis Rebas.

Lily Visnapuu, a first-year student in the “Design Thinking and Digital Marketing” programme, works in educational technology as a UX/UI designer and teacher. At the EdTech company Praktikal, she helps develop a learning platform that aims to make lesson preparation easier and give teachers the freedom to shape lessons according to their own style and students’ needs. At Tartu Vocational College, Lily teaches professional subjects to future UX/UI designers.

Greteliis Rebas, a first-year student in the “Design Thinking and Digital Marketing” programme, has worked in marketing for nearly five years. She currently works at Rimi as a social media manager and also handles digital marketing projects. One project she has led is Rimi’s “Õnnetainas” campaign. As part of the campaign, Rimi’s shortcrust pastry was renamed Õnnetainas for Mental Health Month, and, in collaboration with Peaasi.ee, people were invited to notice more joy in everyday life and take time for themselves.

The workshop introduces the bachelor’s programme in “Design Thinking and Digital Marketing” at the University of Tartu Pärnu College.
