In this workshop, participants will be introduced to design thinking, using young people’s phone use before bed and the resulting lack of sleep as a starting point. Through two different user stories, they will explore how the same problem can affect people in different ways. Teams will choose one perspective and use suitable design-thinking tools to explore that person’s experience and needs. They will then brainstorm a possible solution, visualise it and present it to the others in a short pitch. At the end of the workshop, the work will be connected to the design-thinking process as a whole, and participants will consider what steps would be needed to take the idea further.
The workshop is led by Lily Visnapuu and Greteliis Rebas.
Lily Visnapuu is a first-year student in the “Design Thinking and Digital Marketing” programme. She works in educational technology as a UX/UI designer and teacher. At the EdTech company Praktikal, she helps develop a learning platform designed to make lesson preparation easier and give teachers the freedom to shape lessons in their own style and according to their students’ needs. At Tartu Vocational College, Lily teaches specialist subjects to future UX/UI designers.
Greteliis Rebas is a first-year student in the “Design Thinking and Digital Marketing” programme. She has worked in marketing for nearly five years and is currently Rimi’s social media manager, also working on digital marketing projects. One project she led was Rimi’s “Õnnetainas” campaign. For the campaign, Rimi’s shortcrust pastry became Õnnetainas for Mental Health Month, and, in collaboration with Peaasi.ee, people were invited to notice more joy in everyday life and make time for themselves.
The workshop introduces the bachelor’s programme in “Design Thinking and Digital Marketing” at the University of Tartu Pärnu College.
