The Sound of Salzburg – Christmas Special

The best gift is an experience! A concert ticket makes a lovely Christmas gift for a family member, friend or colleague.

Versatile musicians and actors KATRIN LEHISMETS and PEETER KALJUMÄE invite you on a musical journey to the picturesque Alpine city of Salzburg. Through singing, piano playing and storytelling, they reveal the brilliant world of music born there. Come and enjoy the style and elegance of a bygone era!

Anyone who has ever visited Mozart’s birthplace, Salzburg, wants to return. The city’s beautiful architecture and breathtaking scenery have inspired musicians, filmmakers, writers, dreamers and countless tourists. The concert show “The Sound of Salzburg” offers a selection of compositions inspired by this wonderful fascination, first and foremost by Salzburg’s most famous son, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Several operetta composers also lived and worked in Salzburg and its surroundings, including Franz Lehár and Ralph Benatzky.

Of course, we cannot overlook Julie Andrews and the film “The Sound of Music”, which was also filmed in Salzburg. Our musical stroll takes us along the paths of the von Trapp family, who, after fleeing the Nazis, became known in America as a singing family performing Austrian folk songs and dances.

For the Christmas and New Year season, the programme also includes some world-famous Christmas carols that originated in Salzburg, such as “Silent Night”, which may be performed in Austria only on 24 December. The story of how this song came to be is fascinating, too.

The programme “The Sound of Salzburg” was developed by the Salzburg-based agency Sound of Austria and has been performed there to great success for over 30 years. Katrin Lehismets, who lives in Salzburg and performs the same programme there in various languages, has now brought it to Estonia. The spoken parts are, naturally, in Estonian, while the songs are performed in several languages.

Enjoy the style and elegance of a bygone era!

The concert has two parts and lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes, including a 25-minute interval. Café open.
