Creative Saturday at Fotomuuseum: Light Painting

At Fotomuuseum’s monthly Creative Saturdays, photography enthusiasts of all ages come together to explore the exciting possibilities of different photographic techniques. Everyone is welcome to join Fotomuuseum’s Creative Saturday on 28 November and try painting with light, also known as light painting. Light painting is a playful studio photography technique for creating striking images and optical illusions. All you need is a camera, a light source and a little practice. By taking long-exposure photographs while moving a light source in front of the camera, shapes are captured in the image. While the camera shutter is open, the digital sensor records the movement of the light and turns it into glowing lines and shapes in the image. The sensor thus becomes a kind of blank canvas to paint on with light.
