IX Tallinn feat. Reval – Visions

Meditations and fantasies around Hildegard’s music

The concert “Visions” focuses on the work of the medieval mystic Hildegard von Bingen. She has inspired—and continues to inspire—musicians and thinkers to this day. The extraordinary radiance of Bingen’s work and its ecstatically free style of expression stand out clearly in their own time and still sound fresh to listeners today. As a commentary on Bingen’s work, the concert also features music from a later period, shaped by a similar spirituality.

For the first time, musicians from Livonia meet on stage:
Dārta Paldina — voice (Latvia)
Anna-Liisa Eller — plucked psalteries, bagpipes, percussion
Taavi Kerikmäe — clavicymbalum, clavichord

The concert will feature the newly completed first Estonian clavicymbalum. The instrument was made by Latvian instrument maker Kaspars Putrinš, commissioned by Taavi Kerikmäe. Anna-Liisa Eller is one of the few players of the medieval plucked psaltery who performs on instruments made by Peeter Talve.
