“A Pie for Grandma” — 14+. In Russian.
“A Pie for Grandma” is not a comedy, although at times you may laugh. But the laughter may feel uneasy, because it comes through tears, fear and pain. This psychological performance for adults combines elements of black clowning, puppet theatre and grotesque, using childhood memories to explore a child’s difficult experiences. It does not aim to depict events realistically, but instead translates them into theatrical metaphors.
What is the performance about? The boundaries of violence in relationships between adults and children, the powerful and the vulnerable; and how a road paved with good intentions can lead to a familiar destination.
After the performance, its creators—psychologist Lena Laine and director Marina Evseeva—will invite you to discuss what you have seen over tea and refreshments. You can talk about important things, share your feelings and ask questions that do not always find a place in everyday life.
The performance is based on Lena Laine’s diaries. Written and performed by Marina Evseeva. 50 minutes.
An eccentric clown show on the edge of what is permitted. An open conversation with adults from a child’s point of view. The performance is inspired by true events, diaries and childhood memories. What memories do you have of your grandmother? 12+. The performance is in Russian. Duration: 50 minutes.
