A Halloween evening of gin, piano and dark music. The ticket price includes three gin and tonics and snacks. You do not need to pay separately for the drinks and snacks served at the event.
This Halloween, the concert series Sound of returns with a special programme that is darker, bloodier and a little more intoxicating than usual: Sound of the Bloody Gins. On 31 October at 19:00, Heldeke Bottle Shop becomes the setting for a special musical and tasting experience. Three distinctive gins meet three chilling masterpieces of classical music, performed on piano by composer and pianist Arashk Azizi.
The evening consists of three parts. Each features a different gin and tonic accompanied by live piano music. Instead of performing the original works as usual, Arashk develops and improvises on their musical themes, creating new, atmospheric interpretations inspired by each gin’s character, colour and flavour.
Three gins. Three haunting musical tales.
🟠 Blood Orange — Camille Saint-Saëns: Danse Macabre
We begin with Scapegrace Blood Orange gin, accompanied by Saint-Saëns’s famous Danse Macabre, or “Dance of Death”. A playful, mysterious dance of skeletons and spirits brings the cemetery to life through the sound of the piano.
🔴 Bloody Shiraz — Igor Stravinsky: The Rite of Spring
As the drink turns blood-red, the music becomes darker and more primal. Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz gin is paired with themes from Stravinsky’s revolutionary work The Rite of Spring. Dramatic improvisations are filled with ritual, tension and ancient mystery.
⚫ Black Gin — Franz Liszt: Totentanz
The final glass of the evening is Scapegrace Black Gin, accompanied by Liszt’s fearsome Totentanz, or “Dance of Death”. Based on the medieval Dies Irae theme, the music takes us into the darkest chapter of the evening, where Death itself joins the dance.
This is more than a piano concert or a gin tasting. It is an intimate Halloween experience where music, flavours and imagination intertwine in three dark tales. Come for the gin, stay for the music, and let the spirits take over!
Halloween costumes are not required, but are very welcome.
