Folk Celebration for Nõmme’s 100th Birthday: “A Hundred Steps, a Hundred Stories”

On 31 October, starting at 18:00, we will celebrate Nõmme’s 100th birthday with a grand folk celebration, “A Hundred Steps, a Hundred Stories”. The celebration has two parts. The first features folk music and dance. Then we will present a gift from the people of Nõmme to Nõmme and watch the “100 nõmmekat” video together. The video will later also be uploaded to online platforms. In the second half of the evening, the celebration turns into a large traditional dance party, where everyone can join in. Throughout the evening, 100 dances and songs will be played and danced to at Nõmme Kultuurikeskus. The performers include the musicians Nõmme Pillikoor, kandleansambel Liuli, Nõmme Pärimuskool, Piibarid and Kakumäe kanneldajad, and the dance groups rahvatantsurühm Ürgleigarid, segarahvatantsurühm Undikutsikad, Nõmme Päevakeskuse tantsurühm Nõmme Kirivöö, segarahvatantsurühm Känd ja Käbid, neiduderahvatantsurühm Marike, naisrahvatantsurühm Nõmme Marid and tantsurühm Pärimuspere.
