EXPERIENCE DAY ON KIHNU WITH VÕSU MARJU

Experience Day on Kihnu with Võsu Marju offers the chance to discover the island from a different perspective. During the day, we meet local people in their homes and as they go about their work, and experience everyday life and living heritage on Kihnu. Every visit has its own story:
● local crafts
● entrepreneurship
● home-cooked flavours
● Kihnu songs and dances
● traditional clothing
● island customs and traditions

Of course, there will also be time to enjoy Kihnu’s nature and sea, as well as our beloved lighthouse, or *puaki* in Kihnu dialect!

We’re starting the summer season with our first experience day in Estonian:
31 May 2027

● This experience day is open to individuals; a lovely group will come together from those who sign up.

WHO IS VÕSU MARJU?

I’m Võsu Marju. Officially, I’m Marju Nazarov, but on Kihnu I’m known as Võsu Marju. To this day, it’s customary here to call people by the name of their family farmstead—one of the old customs that remains part of everyday life on Kihnu.

I was born and raised on Kihnu, speak the Kihnu language, and am raising my three lovely children here. I’m passionate about Kihnu’s traditional culture and have spent years helping preserve and introduce it through my work, projects and event organisation.

To me, Kihnu is much more than a beautiful island and its well-known sights. What makes Kihnu special is:
● life here
● its people
● knowledge passed down from generation to generation
● skills
● customs and traditions

Kihnu’s cultural space is included in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and this is the living heritage I want to share with my guests.

I want to show you Kihnu as I know it—through the people who live here, their homes, their activities and their stories. Alongside the well-known places, you’ll get to experience parts of Kihnu that a regular island visit doesn’t always reveal.

WHAT DOES THE EXPERIENCE DAY INCLUDE?

Held in a small, friendly group, Experience Day on Kihnu offers:
● genuine encounters with local people
● visits to Kihnu homes and farmsteads
● Kihnu-style food
● a variety of small tasting experiences
● transport around the island and a truly special motorcycle experience are also included in the price

Your local experience guide will be with you throughout the day. I’m Võsu Marju, and I’ll make sure your day runs smoothly and help you discover Kihnu through its people, stories and traditions.

● The planned minimum group size is 10 people and the maximum is 20–25 people (larger groups can also be accommodated by arrangement). Of course, it’s also possible to enjoy the experience day in a smaller, more intimate group, but the price per person will then be higher.
