The house is low, with a pitched roof. It has a door and a window. A chimney and smoke. Every child knows it; every child has drawn it hundreds of times, some even thousands. But what is that big, square thing with lots of windows? The one the balconies are attached to?
On one balcony, sausages are being grilled. On another, people are kissing. Someone is shooting birds. Here, fish is drying. There, palm trees are growing. On one, someone is crying so uncontrollably that they can hardly breathe. On another, a wise man is giving a speech, because he knows what he has to say. Someone has brought a screaming child onto the balcony to calm down, even though it is only two degrees outside. One balcony has been left at the mercy of the elements and looks like a swan skeleton lying on the seashore. Someone has thrown sweaty clothes out onto the balcony to dry. Someone is singing loudly.
An old man often walks past the house. Very often, he stops and looks at one balcony.
This is an everyday-poetic performance about a small person in a vast, explosive world.
