In January, Curiosity Morning turns its attention to machines. Growing food has always involved a lot of work, but the way people cultivate fields, sow seeds and harvest crops has changed enormously over time. In the past, most work was done by hand or with animal power; today, farmers are helped by robots, satellites, sensors and drones.

At this family morning, we’ll explore how farm machinery has changed over time and what different machines actually do in the field. We’ll get to know the plough, harrow, seed drill, tractor and combine harvester, and look ahead to how robots and precision agriculture help farmers work more accurately and sustainably.

🔎 What does a harrow do?
🔎 How were fields cultivated before tractors?
🔎 Why do tractors have such large wheels?
🔎 How do drones and robots work in the fields?

In the second part of the programme, we’ll let our imaginations run free and design different machines of the future together.

Wondering where to go with the children on Sunday morning? Come to MUHK in Ülenurme (just outside Tartu) to explore, play and create as a family!
