Come discover how soil and water are connected at the December Curiosity Morning. Soil absorbs, stores and purifies water, helping it reach groundwater. The composition and condition of soil affect how much water it holds and how quickly water moves through it. At this family morning, we’ll explore through play and experiments how water moves through soil, how soil affects water, and why rainwater behaves very differently in sand, clay and humus-rich soil. In the second part of the event, we’ll get our hands muddy and wet and experiment together in the museum’s classroom. We’ll build a layered water filter and investigate how water moves through soils of different densities. If you’re wondering where to go with the children on a Sunday morning, come to MUHK in Ülenurme (near Tartu) to discover, play and create as a family!
