Christmas Peace Concert: A. Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Performers: Tallinna Kammerorkester and soloist Hans-Christian Aavik.
More information: Hans Christian Aavik (born 1998) is one of Estonia’s most outstanding violinists. His versatile style and distinctive sound have attracted attention both in Estonia and in many parts of Europe. He won first prize at the 2022 Carl Nielsen International Competition. In addition to two special prizes (Best Performance of the Compulsory Piece, Jesper Koch’s “Maze,” and the Odense Symphony Orchestra Special Prize), he signed a contract with the record label Orchid Classics. In the coming seasons, he will be a frequent guest with leading Scandinavian orchestras.
In 2022, Hans Christian Aavik received the annual award of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia’s Endowment for Music, the prestigious music prize of Germany’s Usedom Music Festival, and the Estonian Performers’ Union’s Performer of the Year title.
Tallinna Kammerorkester (TKO) was founded in 1993 by conductor Tõnu Kaljuste. Over three decades, the orchestra has become one of Estonia’s flagship ensembles, appearing regularly at concert venues in Europe and elsewhere around the world. In 2013, Tallinna Kammerorkester received the Estonian Music Council’s Interpretation Award. TKO performs on Arvo Pärt’s author album “Adam’s Lament,” which earned conductor Tõnu Kaljuste a Grammy in 2014.
Under its first chief conductor, Tõnu Kaljuste, Tallinna Kammerorkester was active from 1993 to 1995, from 1996 to 2001, and from 2019 to 2024. Juha Kangas, chief conductor from 1995 to 1996 and artistic adviser from 2001 to 2003, also left a significant mark on TKO’s development. Risto Joost was TKO’s chief conductor from 2013 to 2019.
Advance tickets: €20; tickets on the day of the concert: €25.
