A smart textiles competence centre, LÕIM, is being established at Tallinna Tehnikakõrgkool, bringing together expertise in textiles, electronics and manufacturing. At the seminar, we will present the LÕIM materials collection for the first time. It includes more than 30 documented materials that respond to their surroundings, conduct electricity, react to heat or moisture, and can be integrated with textiles.
Fabric is in contact with the skin throughout the day, making it a natural place to add functions—whether measuring, responding to the environment or sending the user a signal. Estonia’s textile and clothing industry already has strong manufacturing expertise. LÕIM helps build new functions and possibilities on that knowledge, without requiring companies to establish a separate R&D department.
At the seminar, you can:
- Get an overview of smart textiles and their uses
- Explore the LÕIM materials collection
- Take a laboratory tour, handle the materials and learn more about their possibilities
The seminar is intended for companies in the textile, clothing, sports, medical and defence sectors, as well as professional associations, partners and researchers interested in finding new ways to combine textiles and technology.
The seminar is held as part of Tallinna Tehnikakõrgkool’s development grant project “Materjalitark – TTK functional materials competence centre foundation”.
