Description: Jenny Gordon was born with an exceptionally low IQ and is selected by scientists for an experimental brain operation that will triple her intelligence. The same procedure has achieved great success with a white laboratory mouse named Algernon. The effects of the operation emerge gradually, and Jenny’s intelligence continues to grow until it surpasses that of the doctors who experimented on her. It seems that a discovery of worldwide significance has been made—until Algernon’s condition begins to deteriorate. Will the same happen to Jenny?
Play: D. Keyes’s science-fiction classic short story “Flowers for Algernon” (1959). The book won the Hugo and Nebula Awards. It was adapted into the Oscar-winning film “Charly”.
