An altered book is a creative and liberating way to express yourself, transforming an ordinary book into your personal creative journal, visual diary, or mirror of your inner world. Its pages can fill with colours, shapes, words, collages, memories, dreams, and everything that everyday life doesn’t always leave room for.
In this workshop, we’ll begin creating our own personal altered books. I’ll show you simple, inspiring techniques for transforming an existing book and using it to support creativity, self-reflection, and well-being.
During the workshop:
✨ You’ll create pages for your first altered book
✨ You’ll try out different creative techniques
✨ You’ll experience creating in a non-judgmental atmosphere
✨ You’ll take home exercises and ideas for continuing to work with your book independently
No previous art or craft skills are needed. The result isn’t what matters—the process is. This workshop is for young people and adults who would like to take time for themselves, discover their creativity, and experience creative work as a way to care for and express themselves.

The workshop is led by Kelli Sevilla Kook, visual art therapist (MSc), photographer, and systemic counsellor. She is fascinated by the stories people carry within them and by ways of bringing them to light through images, symbols, and creative work. She believes creativity helps us meet ourselves more authentically and discover greater strength, clarity, and meaning within.
