HARBOUR — a musical journey with Emily Ocean
HARBOUR is Emily Ocean’s original concert about an inner journey towards oneself. Through music, live improvisation and a variety of images, the concert moves between themes that are part of all our lives: memories, a sense of belonging, loneliness, fear of the unknown, the search for meaning, and connection with something greater than ourselves. It is a musical journey through different states and experiences that accompany us as we search for ourselves.
What awaits you?
• The special atmosphere of Kadriorg Palace — dim lighting, candles and music in a historic setting.
• Emily Ocean’s original compositions and live intuitive improvisation, created on the spot during the concert.
• A musical journey inward through images of the sea, distant voices, a storm, a lighthouse and a harbour.
Concert sections:
I. OUTLANDER
We come into this world as travellers, searching for ourselves and our way. The journey begins with questions: Who am I? Where do I belong? What can I call home?
II. SIREN SONG
On the journey, the traveller must also experience disappointment and loss. Something that at first seemed familiar and safe turns out to be something else entirely. Like a siren’s song, it draws you in but leads you astray. The traveller must let go of what they have held on to until now and move forward.
III. THE STORM
When familiar points of reference disappear, the traveller is left alone in the middle of a vast and unpredictable sea. The storm brings helplessness, loneliness and fear. Yet it is through this experience that the traveller gradually begins to find inner strength.
IV. THE WHALE’S CALL
Amid the endless sea, a distant call sounds through the noise of the waves. The traveller listens and understands that even in this immense expanse, they are not alone. The distant call reminds them of an invisible connection with something greater than themselves, restores a sense of meaning and helps them understand why it is worth continuing.
V. THE LIGHTHOUSE
For the first time in a long while, the light of a lighthouse appears in the distance. It becomes an inner point of reference for the traveller and gives them a sense of direction again.
EPILOGUE: HARBOUR
At the end of the journey, the traveller reaches a harbour and finds a sense of home—not as a place to be found somewhere outside oneself, but as something that arises within us after everything we have been through. It is a moment when we can see and accept ourselves and our path as they are.
