In collaboration with the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, the Estonian Centre of Architecture has prepared a special tour exploring Estonian architecture as seen through the lenses of numerous cameras. Together, we’ll explore where and how architectural and cinematic landscapes intersect, which fascinating places have inspired directors from Estonia and elsewhere over the years, and what filming locations Estonian architecture can offer future filmmakers.

Our tour begins in the Rotermann Quarter, which has undergone dramatic changes since the filming of Andrei Tarkovsky’s *Stalker*. Its science-fiction “Zone”—isolated and slightly apocalyptic—has become one of Tallinn’s most modern districts, where historic heritage is skilfully combined with new architecture.

Next, we’ll head to the Creative Hub, whose chimney still bears the UN symbol painted for *Stalker*. The entrance to the “Stalker Zone” was also once located here. Today, the former power station has become one of the area’s most unusual and modern event centres.

We’ll finish at Linnahall, where Christopher Nolan’s spy thriller *Tenet* was filmed, as was, for example, *The Last Sentinel* by Estonian director Tanel Toom. The future of Linnahall, and its fate as a legendary landmark, remain uncertain. Some would like to demolish it, but the vast majority of people familiar with this monumental site’s heritage continue to see the building’s uniqueness and value, and understand how important it is to preserve it for future generations.

The tour is on foot and lasts 120 minutes (2 hours). The route is about 3 km long. Tours are available in Estonian, Russian and English.

Tours organised by the Estonian Centre of Architecture are led by some of Estonia’s finest professional guides, united by their interest in architecture and its history. The Centre also organises tailor-made tours in six languages to a range of fascinating places throughout Estonia. To enquire, email info@archtours.ee.
