Once a month, various researchers and specialists visit MUHK’s (Rural Life Curiosity Centre) permanent exhibition “What Do I Need Soil For?!” to explain complex topics in simple terms. Everyone interested in nature, food production, agriculture, the environment and future technologies is welcome to listen and take part in the discussion.

In November, we’ll talk about the modern technological solutions available to farmers. How do satellites and field robots gather information about the world around them, and what needs to happen to that data before it becomes practically useful knowledge? Using the European Space Agency (ESA), Sentinel and Landsat as examples, we’ll look at how satellite monitoring is set up and give an overview of drones and agricultural robots: how they work and which technological approaches are shaping the field’s development today.

The topic will be presented by Teet Liiv, a doctoral student in soil science and crop production at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, and the leaders of the Estonian Aviation Academy student project BlueNimbus.

Admission with a museum ticket. Please note: the Museum Card is not valid.

The events are supported by the Estonian Research Council.
